Description

The 3D HoofCare Half Mesh Narrow hoof pad is specially suited to horses with narrower feet (either front or hind) . The frog support is 4mm narrower than the original 3D HoofCare Half Mesh pad to accommodate the heel branches and enough width and length for added heel support.

All the benefits of the original 3D HoofCare Half Mesh hoof pad – in a new, narrow fit.

The 3D HoofCare Half Mesh Narrow Hoof Pad is designed to stop the frog descending to the ground through peripheral loading of the hoof wall that results in tissue damage, painful heels, and possible corns.

The 3D HoofCare Half Mesh Narrow Hoof Pad is best used in conjunction with a digital impression material to help re align the hoof pastern axis angle. The 3-degree angled wedge pad can be used to artificially raise the hoof angle when conformation or injury needs assistance when the hoof angle is low relative to the pastern angle.

The 3D HoofCare Half Mesh Narrow Hoof Pad is designed to be used in a controlled pasture and riding environment that has no stones to puncture the exposed sole area.

The pads help horses that need bony column support, such as laminitic horses, and help the frog to share a portion of the load, reducing load placed on other areas of the hoof. These pads help maintain the position of the frog relative to other structures of the hoof.

Why should I use a 3D pad for my horse?

“The 3D pad is designed to emulate the forces generated on the barefoot hoof with a shoe applied. The frog support stops the frog from trying to reach the ground with the weight and movement of the horse. This dissipates all the force on the seat of corn and heels and distributes the weight evenly over the wall and frog as nature intended.”
How do I know which type of 3D pad to use?

“The Ed Eclipse is designed for racehorses as a lightweight frog support to dissipate force to the heels. It is used without digital support material.

The Half Mesh pad is used in conjunction with a soft digital impression material mixed with anti bacterial copper sulphate. This pad is used for horses in a grass pasture and arena or controlled riding environment.

The Full mesh pad is designed for maximum protection also in conjunction with digital impression material and anti bacterial copper sulphate. This is for horses in stony turnout and riding environment. This would also be my recommendation for thin soled horses as a protection.”
Size guides - What size should I order?

“The size of the pad is measured at the widest point of the hoof and from toe to heel. Various degrees can also be incorporated with 1, 2, 3 degrees being standard degree pads. This degree needed will be dictated by the Hoof Pastern Angle.”

Should I use hoof packing (DIM) with these pads?

Hoof packing (impression material) is vital to ensure excellent contact between your horse’s solar surface/frog and all 3D Hoofcare hoof pads (except the EE pad) – thus providing best support and shock dissipation. Many trainers/farriers forego DIM occasionally in very specific cases.

Ed Eclipse (EE) pads are used without DIM to capitalise on their light weight for race speed and competition performance.

Deplano pads, with their leather layer, protect against debris intrusion so may be used without DIM in specific competition cases.
